the tower of Babel - I

I'm tired of diagnostics right now, so let's call it a fable.

Let's say that there was a time and place where people sought to build not a wall but a tower: the tallest, greatest tower; one that would simultaneously actualize and stand for self-realization. A perfect sign.

Half of the people said it lacked the fear of God and tried to tear it down before it began. But there is no force on earth great enough to dissuade men from building where and what they have no business building, and so the man who stood for the tower was made king. All the naysayers were dismissed as weak or ignorant, and the jubilant masses set to the task of erecting a great monolith.

We all know how this story ends.
